Lomita is running its first ever district-by-district city council race. A city council district-by-district election differs from an at-large election because district races only include voters from a particular district. At-large elections include voters from the entire city. Wade Kyle is running to be Lomita’s City Council District 2 member.
When did Lomita change to Districts?
In May 2023, the city council of Lomita selected a district map with 5 districts, where the residents of each district will vote for the candidate running for that specific district. There is a link to the map below.
This was done to be in compliance with the California Voting Rights Act and to avoid possibly costly litigations.
